The school achieved the best rating for perceived productivity.
The survey revealed a rare case of a building that performs well on most of the assessment criteria.
Kingsmead Primary School demonstrated the importance of routine monitoring and fine-tuning.
Kingsmead Primary School fell in the top 10% of buildings in the BUS dataset at that time.

The building owner, Rivergreen Developments had a hands-on role in the design and project management of the build and focused heavily on the environmental challenges of developing such a sustainable building.

Total occupancy of the building is approximately 300 which includes Rivergeen Developments staff and around 20 tenants.

Occupant satisfaction surveys were carried out using the BUS methodology a year after the building became occupied.

First building to achieve both BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and LEED ‘Gold’ certification.
A BUS paper-based survey, carried out by BSRIA in 2009, achieved a response rate of over 80%.
In terms of overall satisfaction the building scored very highly.
The occupant control over the environment was voiced by occupants.
This case study highlighted the importance of managing a building and its occupants properly in order to achieve the desired operational outcomes.

Thirty-three years after construction, refurbishment of the MLC Centre provided an opportunity to turn an existing building into a new work environment giving staff leading edge facilities with work-friendly technologies.

Staff were surveyed on several occasions to ensure the brief met the needs of a diverse workforce. The focus on sustainable development improved the quality of the environment and ensured operational cost saving.

A post-refurbishment evaluation showed that the office had a higher occupant satisfaction rating than any other office measured in Australia.
